    Schools

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for opinions on schools in Dauphin County - public or private.

Do you like the district that your child attends? If your child is attending a private school, what have you found to be the pros and cons? Do you like your child's elementary school but are considering sending your child elsewhere when they get to middle school or high school? Drugs/alcohol are everywhere, but in your opinion, just how bad do you think the situation is in your school? How do you feel about the curriculum?

I would prefer responses from people who are in the trenches, so to speak...parents, teachers, etc. I would like to hear honesty but not slander and would prefer facts not "he said, she said".

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

Stay away from the HBG school district. The super is paid more than the President of the free world (no kidding), The football coach is paid more than a 100k, million dollars of astroturf, but kids still dpn't have books and kids graduate that can't read past the 5th grade level if theyre a good athlete. and our real estate property taxes pay for all of this foolishness. Democracy doesnt exist here in HBG either. Its an appointed school board (the elected board can't even meet without the appointed boards permission) Oh and it was appointed by THE MAYOR!!!! The same guy that spends 4+ million on wild west artifacts, while rome burns. Cops in schools and if your kid gets caught doing something wrong they arrest em and put 'em in the system..

your best bet in Dauphin County is Hershey HS. If you can make it to Mechanicsburg HS (cumberland county) it placed first in the areas PSSA testing....
