Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

First, I understand that since Harrisburg is in PA, CBS21 must support the NFL teams in PA (Eagles and Steelers).

I must point out that York and Adams counties are actually closer to Baltimore, and there is a large Ravens fan base in these areas. Even Lancaster has a Ravens fan base. The news team tonight only covered the weather for the Steelers and Eagles games, and not the Ravens. The Ravens are a local team to South Central PA. CBS21 should be able to cover all three of the NFL teams (Ravens, Eagles, and even the Steelers).

Pittsburg is about 5 hours away, when Baltimore is only 1 hour away from my home.

Why exactly can't WHP fight the NFL market designation?

I was rather disappointed with 21 this afternoon when I saw the Ravens on instead of the Eagles... Why can't the WHP management work with the NFL to restate our Market designation? There is a higher percentage of Eagles and Steelers fans in the WHP market than Ravens fans. Why can't you work to satisfy your audience? Can't you broadcast the Ravens games on channel 15 and Eagles/Steelers games on channel 21?

I'm sure 15 isn't showing any valuable programming on Sunday afternoons.

I just don't understand what is going on. The Steelers game isn't on again. It's the same two teams playing today. The Ravens and the Dolphins. I just wish Comcast would wake up and put on the Maryland CBS station on. Just like the other networks. It shouldn't be hard for them to do this as it seems the station has changed owners. I never heard of Newport Television. It's like they couldn't have a router failure like what happened last night game between Boston and Florida. The fans in Flordia missed 20 minutes of the game.

3 times this year the Pats have been on CBS, 3 times your affiliate chose paid advertising over carrying the games. Is there a reason for this seemingly idiotic programming choice? I can't think of one, other than blatent stupidity. I won't watch anything on CBS anymore, thanks for nothing... literally!

Thanks to Mr manuel and his stupid decisions on changing pitchers they lost. I certainly hope he is not there next year, as i said he made very dumb decisions in changing picthers when there was no reason to. he should be fired, also all the players were too nervous to even get a hit, the whole team sucked! they did not deserve to win , and mr manuuel made dumd decisions all year not just in the playoffs, why he was ever hired i will never know! If the owner would stop being so stingy and get some picthers the phillies will have a whole lot better chance to win. I will also like to say that why they keep mr burrell is a mystery. Please get rid of manuel to start though and the team will certainly be better. He is worthless! But i suppose they don't really care anyway, because they still get their millions! bye now, mr star.;

NFL Coverage

Anyone have any ideas as to why both the Steelers and the Ravens games cannot be covered on a Sunday where one team plays @ 1 p.m. and the other plays @ 4 p.m? Seems strange to me considering the fact that they will likely have some infomercial or another bogus program in which no one is interested on instead. Why?

I agree with Jamie Fettrow position that Reggie Bush did accept illegallly gifts and money while he was in college at USC.

However, the NFL doesn't want to get involvded in it just like the NBA turned a deft ear to LeBron James's new hummer while he was in high school. They said his momma bought it for him, really.

I't's about time the IRS begins investigating the athletes and the under the table gifts, etc.

The 1^st annual DISC GOLF ICE BOWL will be held in East Pennsboro on Saturday, February 3^rd.2007 at Ridley Park in East Pennsboro (Erford & Matthew Roads). Registration opens at 8:30 am and closes at 9:30 am. The entry fee is $10.00, which includes a commemorative mini marker disc and a $5.00 donation to the Ronnie Powley Center or a grocery bag full of non-perishable for the Central PA Food Bank. All players are welcome regardless of ability. There will also be a closest-to-the-pin & a “ring-of-fire” contest with proceeds going to the Ronnie Powley Center. Participants are encouraged to bring some food to share for lunch. For those interested in checking out disc golf, the Ice Bowl is a good place to start because emphasis is more on fun and charity than it is on pure competition. Disc golf is similar to golf (disc golfers often refer to it as “ball” or “stick” golf) in procedure, pace, and psychology. Instead of clubs and balls, disc golfers use golf discs (smaller, heavier, and aerodynamically superior to the Frisbees® used for playing catch.) Instead of a cup, disc golfers “hole out” in a disc golf basket or target. The baskets are made of steel, attached to a pole about 2½ feet off the ground, and have chain assemblies above the basket which act as a “backboard” that stops the discs’ forward motion, causing it to drop in the basket. Disc golfers play the throw from where it lies and count each throw until the disc lands in the basket or within the chains.

Steelers vs. Eagles on November 19th

We've been getting a number of calls and emails regarding NFL games for Sunday, November 19th.

Here's a statement from Lou Castriota, Director of Operations and Programming for CBS 21.

CBS 21 (WHP) will air the Pittsburgh-Cleveland game this Sunday, 11/19, at 1pm. WHP airs Pittsburgh Steelers' games throughout the season. We are also committed to airing Steelers' preseason games for the next five years. We have aired Steelers' preseason and regular season games for several years since CBS was awarded the AFC contract from the NFL.

The Philadelphia Eagles normally air on FOX, which has the NFC rights. When a NFC team hosts an AFC team, the game switches to CBS. When an AFC team hosts a NFC team, the game moves to FOX. This makes it difficult for CBS and FOX stations when there are conflicts. The local FOX station will always choose to air the Eagles because of the season-long commitment; and we at WHP CBS 21 will always choose the Steelers' games for the same reason.

Thank you for understanding our predicament.

When a game is scheduled to be showed at 4pm or 4:15pm, I understand the need to show the completion of the early game before switching to the late game coverage. What I don't understand is, why the need to show the conclusions of other games before switching to the late game coverage, many times well into the game? This has happened each of the last three times the Steelers have been broadcast on WHP as the late game. Honestly, this practice seems ludicrous and there can't be a good explanation! Especially when those games conclusions that are being shown aren't even competitive games! Either way, this simply should not happen! What do you plan to do about it?

What team do you call "yours," even if Philadelphia, Baltimore and Pittsburgh are all pretty far off?

The team with the most votes instantly becomes the most popular team in central PA, without question. It's THAT scientific.
