I used to work there. They are real losers.

Stealing the employees money. They owe tens of thousands of dollars to their ex-employees.

You know like NAFTA and why the jobs are gone. I thought theprive of gas was too high here in York. Icalled my boys in Vegas and compaired it to where my new job is in Northern Jersey. Know what? Our gas prices are 20 cents a gallon higher then before. We used to be 10 cents a gallon less than Vegas, and in line with Northern Jersey and 20 cents higher than where I have family in NE Ohio. Northern NH 2.53, Vegas 2.65, Ohio now 2.53 with new .10cent tax. York PA: 2.73 to 2.75. Seems Rendel and the legislature slipped in new taxes and didn't tell anyone. They are great at telling you the good things but not the legisature nor the media have the guts to report this.

No disrespect to Mrs Tome... I don't know how Channel 21 can call Dody Tome's story today "breaking her silence." When I know for a fact that she's talked to channel 27 on several occasions. I was at the Kops for Cops game in December of 2008 and watched the reports from several of the channel 27 reporters. In order to gain the public trust, you should be trustworthy with your reporting.

i watched with great intereset your story about this company and cant believe a company in this country , making aircraft parts? could actually get away with screwing their employees this way. will they actually be made "whole"? their bills? their families? what about that all important credit rating?, we should all pay attention, this sort of practice is nothing new to working americans, my hat is off to this channel and especilly the employees who with what had to be considerable courage, are blowing the whistle on simply bad business and mistreatment of employees, i stand with you. What this all amounts to is a clear problem in America.
Dog owner's are being criminalized, violated and ignored on a daily basis. Meanwhile, "Humane organizations" are overstepping their bounds (legally speaking) and supplying bogus information to law enforcements agencies in exchange for media coverage which results in donations. Directly resulting from these acts of pure greed are the deaths of innocent animals, the ruined lives of innocent dog lovers and the wasted taxpayer money which is used to arrest these people, harass these people and then lose in court to these people.

Recently I have begun to wonder if the United States has somehow amended the Constitution to exempt animal owners from certain "rights" which other citizens enjoy. For example, the the 5th Amendment which says "no person shall be deprived of Life, Liberty, or Property, without due process of law." However, every day laws are being passed which allow cities to take dogs (aka property) from their owners without the due process of a trial. The alarming rate with which this questionable practice is spreading has lead me to this idea. . .

Perhaps the United States of America no longer views animal owners as having equal rights afforded under the Constitution.

I can't believe that the police have nothing better to do than take a man's dog away. He may not have known how to take care of him in the best way, but he loves him and could be taught. Give me a break! There are so many animals out there who no one wants, they are abused, etc. and you are going to take a dog from a man who just needs to understand that loving the dog also means knowing how to care for it. I truly pray for our country if this is the mentality of the bureaucracy.

I think the 73 year old man should get his dog back. There was no reason the cop should of taken the dog without talking to him. If the windows were down there should of been no problem. I just saw 2 dogs in the back of a truck in 90 degree weather and they were fine just waiting for their owner to come out.

I believe that this is tragic, that this man has taken care of his animal all these years and then some cop has nothing else to do but take this mans dog, ie. catch speeders, robbers, etc. They need to give him his dog back now.

I'm glad there are so many people worried about Mr. Thomas. I'm sure with all the posts, the local churches, Bethesda Mission, and other organizations won't have problems this year getting donations and contributions to help the homeless.

Where were you when they closed the Hbg. State Hospital and other institutions, helping the mentally ill? Where did you think people like Mr. Thomas was going to go? He's seems to be functional, after all he was in a restaurant eating, when his dog was removed from the car.

Let's see you put your time and money where your posts are, or don't you really care about the homeless?

You probably won't see Mr. Thomas' attorney fighting for the homeless, unless there are press opportunities.

I guess I'm jaded, and don't expect to see the donations increasing, just the posts. By the way, I do volunteer.

The homeless population rely on their pets for nonjudgmental, loyal companionship. These pets are sometimes their primary support system and the only motivation to keep them going.

The number of companion animals living on the streets is surprisingly high. It is a fact of which Santa Barbara veterinarian David Dawson is keenly aware. In Santa Barbara County, CA., alone there are roughly 6,000 homeless people, with approximately one in 10 owning a pet. "With these economic times, we will not see the end of pet homelessness," said Dawson. "We need to give back and make a change to keep the pets and public healthy."

And that is exactly what he is doing. Last March, Dawson, along with his staff at San Roque Pet Hospital, held a free clinic for the homeless of Santa Barbara’s pets.

It is estimated by the National Coalition for the Homeless that between 5% to 10% of homeless people have dogs and/or cats. In some areas of the country the rate is as high as 24%. Most people who experience homelessness are homeless for a short period of time, and usually need help finding housing or a rent subsidy. But unfortunately for those with pets it becomes more difficult. Many are forced to choose between their pet or a roof over their head.

Surprisingly, most choose to stay on the streets with their pets for longer periods of time. Their pets are nonjudgmental, providing comfort, an emotional bond of loyalty. In some cases they provide the homeless with protection and keep them warm.

shame on us!A state who has resources to help our elderly population. This man probably provided loving care to a wife with alzheimers, only to become homeless. why would anyone think that he wouldn't provide the same loving care to his dog. Give the dog back and also give him back is dignity by assisting him to become independant again.

There is something fundamentally wrong with the above statement..... Most of us who still have a job are worried that we won't soon have a job and have made salary concessions to keep our companies in business. I am so very tired of the government taking more and more of my money for them to spend how they please. Then you have the audacity to hold the citizens of PA as well as the employees of the state HOSTAGE because the House and Senate won't pass your BIG SPENDING budget. Isn't this just another form of BLACKMAIL? Last time I knew blackmail was illegal. I guess if you are a politician, there are different rules. I get so tired of hearing how we are going to have to cut police, education, parks and such which are a small percentage of the total package. That is BLACKMAIL!!!

WAKE UP Governor Rendell and State government elected officials!!!! If we are in a recession, YOU should be looking after the business of our state like a business. You have forgotten how to run a business like a business and have fallen prey to the government mentality of endless revenue courtesy of your constituents. We are tired of your big spending and want more of our money to spend on what we want.

Pull yourselves together as a legislative body and go through the budget like the rest of us business people. Propose a budget that takes a 20-30% cut in revenue from last years budget. Last years was too big too, but the economy was good so no-one cared.(My mistake too. I should have held you all accountable then) Then prioritize what needs to be spent for the safety and education of the commonwealth,(These are your first priorities) Then you prioritize medium and low items/programs and many of those will take cuts, that's how business works.

In Business you prioritize and cut in low/medium priority areas first to SURVIVE, let's see you do it!!!!!

A few Ideas for free:

We don't need any more state employees so put on a hiring freeze. Likely could lose a few of them and not even feel it except in the budget area.

Why don't state employees pay for any of their healthcare? I do and the percentage that I pay grows every year.

Take a close look at state vehicles, you likely could cut the fleet 10% or more.

Send fewer of those vehicles home with employees. Big GAS savings. I see state cars at 8 and 9 pm at night. I doubt any of them are on official state business.

Look closely at state "paperwork" and the flow of your state processes. MAP each process like you would a business process and take out the NON VALUE ADDED ACTIVITY. This is one of the biggest savings you can realize.

As a final note:

If you and legislators spent as much time looking for and addressing WASTE in all the government processes as you do lobbying and figuring ways to pay for bigger government, you may find that you can do all things you want to do with less money and fewer resources, thus saving your constituents money and letting them spend it on growing the economy.........

Animals are an emotional issue that brings out the best and worst in people.

Molly’s Place has adopted out over 1200 dogs and 500 cats since it opened last year. The majority of people are grateful and happy. There are always a few for one reason or another that have to blame every problem they encounter on someone. The pets at Molly’s Place are societies throw away pets. Most come from rescues or owner surrender. The most common problem with dogs and cats is over population. It's hard to believe but some people haven't a clue how many animals are euthanized every year because there just aren't enough homes. Before they can be adopted Molly’s Place pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for fleas and internal parasites, micro chipped and bathed. The cats are tested for feline leukemia. The rescue charges $150 for a kitten. I called a local veterinarian to see what the charges would be for the same services, minus the FeLu teat, frontline, worming and microchip, and it was over $300. Yet Molly’s Place is condemned for charging a fee.

There is a higher charge for pure bred dogs and cats. Rescue income means more animals can be helped. People pass up the old, fat, homely mix breed dogs and cats for the purebred, or young cute ones. But the pets that are passed over still need care until someone sees their value and adopts them. This fee helps care for them.

Since the background of most of the animals is unknown it is impossible to tell if an animal has come into contact with a virus if it is not showing symptoms. People flock to puppies and kittens and often these animals are only in the rescue a few days until they are adopted. It has happened that an animal appearing perfectly healthy when it leaves will begin to show symptoms when it gets home. MP offers pet insurance that starts 24 hours after the adoption and covers $500 of unforeseen veterinary care. Yet people want to condemn MP for a few sick pets out of almost 2000 adopted. What would have happened to them without MP? The owner of MP rescue works 6 days a week, 12 hour days, this is her life calling.

Mayor Reed is Involved in Alleged Criminal Activity but Let Him Tell it, He is Your Friend!

Please remember that on May 19th, we will have to decide if we want to continue to be robbed by the Reed Administration or are we going to retire Reed and start to make a better future. Mayor Reed has no problem with doing things in your name that are illegal.

1. He had his legal council lie to City Council telling them that using a "Quick Claim" Deed to sell McCormick Island was just a leasing document and in so money years, the City can get the island back. Ask any attorney, this is in violation of Pennsylvania and US Criminal statutes.

2. Mayor Reed illegally took out a loan in your name, in secret, and gave the money to his friends.

3. Mayor Reed tried to hijack a liquor license owned by the City, to give to his friends, opening up a eating establishment on City Island. This is also against Pennsylvania Criminal Code.

You complain about criminal activity in the City. Well it starts with the Mayors office. The problem is, no law enforcement agency is doing anything about it. Mayor Reed has been under FBI investigation for years. Many people have been interviewed by them including Eric Papenfuse and Darnell Williams concerning Reed team activity. Other law enforcement agencies have also been watching. But they will not do anything until you, the public, do something.

This is why you have to vote against the Mayor and his machine on May 19th and tell your friends, relatives, and neighbors to do the same. It is all up to each and every one of you!

Mayor Reed is campaigning like he is the savior of Harrisburg. Let me remind you that the Mayor;

1. Gave Barlow Construction Company a check for $125 Million to rebuild the incinerator with no controls on the money. To this day, no one knows what happened to the money and the incinerator repairs are still not done. It will be you who will have to pay this money back.

2. The Mayor took out a loan for $15 Million in secret and against the law. He gave the money to Barlow with no controls on the money. The money disappeared along with the $125 Million. After Barlow received this money, he filed for bankruptcy. Now you have to pay for all this money.

3. The incinerator is losing money and your trash rates had to be increased. You are now paying the highest trash rates in Pennsylvania. Instead of fixing the incinerator, he was busy taking care of his friends.

4. Mayor Reed gave one of his friends a job doing nothing for the City with an annual salary of $90,000. You are paying that salary. Instead of looking out for your money, he was looking out for his friend.

5. In a time of layoffs, home foreclosures, and salary decreases, Mayor Reed gave his friends working for the City a 12% to 18% raise. I bet you did not get a raise, let alone a big raise. Mayor Reed takes care of his friends. But not you!

6. Spent $30 Million on Artifacts, which was your money and tried to sell city assets to a friend.

7. This is why we have over one Billion Dollar City and School Debt. That is debt that you have to pay back along with paying for City services.

8. The Mayor took over the school system, spending a lot of your money. The school system is worse now than when he took it over. It is still 501th out of 501 school systems in the state.

9. Over the past 25 year, the Mayor took police and fire officers off the payroll but he had money to buy artifacts and give his friends raises.

10. We pay the highest property taxes in the tri-county area.

11. The Mayor has not upgraded the sewer system and it is starting to decay. That is why water backs up in the streets when it rains. But he can spend money on museums instead of on you.

12. But all these years, he kept these things from you so that you would think that he is the greatest Mayor in the world. He wants you to think of yesteryear instead of the future. That way, he can continue to use your money to take care of his friends.

If you feel like we do, please pass this around to your friends, neighbors and relatives. Help us retire Mayor Reed. This will help us all. If not, then live in the past and allow the residents of Harrisburg to pay high taxes and fees for public charity to the suburbanites and Reed's friends.

Study shows Data for Middle and High School Students in Lancaster County

Lancaster, PA. Since 1989, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has conducted a survey of secondary school students on their behavior, attitudes and knowledge concerning alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) and violence. For the past six years, the survey that PA has used is the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS).

The survey was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The data gathered in the PAYS serve two primary needs. First, the survey results provide an important benchmark for alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) use and delinquent behavior among young Pennsylvanians, and help indicate whether prevention and treatment programs are achieving their intended results. Second, the survey assesses risk factors that are related to these behaviors and the protective factors that guard against them. This information allows community leaders and school administrators to direct prevention resources to areas where they are likely to have the greatest impact. The Communities That Care Youth Survey (CTCYS) was adopted as the basis for the PAYS.

In 2005 and 2007, the Council on Drug & Alcohol Abuse conducted the PAYS for Lancaster County school students. In 2007, nearly 9,100 sixth, eighth, tenth and twelfth graders from 13 public school districts and two private/parochial schools participated, answering questions about their alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use, depression, gambling, antisocial behaviors and feelings about their families and communities. The Council on Drug & Alcohol Abuse is scheduling presentations on the PAYS data for schools, faith-based organizations, communities and other agencies.

For more than 40 years, the Council on Drug & Alcohol Abuse has assumed a leadership role in all aspects of education, prevention, intervention and treatment of chemical dependency. The Council is supported by private donations, United Way funds, private and public grants, and fees for some services. It is the Council’s goal to work with Lancaster County to dramatically reduce substance abuse and to improve the lives of our youth.

I'm new here and maybe this isn't the place to ask - so sorry if I have the wrong forum.........but what happened to the CBS 21 Weekend News shows? For the past few weeks we noticed the news is absent on Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings before the CBS Sunday Morning Show. Anyone have any info if this is just a temporary programming thing or will it now be permanent? If permanent, what a shame, we always looked forward to these news programs to start our weekend mornings!
