What the FDA has released to date regarding the poisoning of thousands of pets wreaks of ignorance, indifference, arrogance and borders on criminal. Melamine has been used for decades in dinnerware and is known to leach into foods - if it is in fact "toxic", why are we still eating from it? Unless, of course, they'd been bought back then as they are today with Dupont's Teflon, an EPA declared carcinogen that we cook from that will also kill birds subject to those fumes that breaks down over time that is aggressively marketed and used today and exists in ALL our systems and blood, whether we have used it or not. But they are a major political contributor so rules for them are different, as we all know.

Commerce once again takes precedence over our well being, and the well being of those tender pets we call our friends and many call their babies. Our Government shows blatantly that they have no conscience when there is yet another buck to be made.

Do we truly believe if they've learned that dry pet foods, as well as human foods have been contaminated, that they would tell us at this stage of the game? This is our FDA that will not even permit labels to indicate a product is wheat or gluten free. They are still reporting only 16 deaths, with NO centralized method in place to track these deaths, and still have yet to publicize ALL the symptoms of renal kidney failure in cats and dogs because they do not WANT to know, and do not want US to know.

Those who knew of the poisoned animals and did or said nothing need to be 1) immediately removed from their positions, 2) bought up on criminal charges, if applicable and 3) fed whatever foods were included in the recall only until the supplies are exhausted. IF they are still standing, once we determine the cause, anyone with decreased appetite or thirst may get taken to the Vet for bloodwork but by then it would most likely be too late, however we may get urine samples or organ samples post-mortem if they were not cremated. Then come back in their 2nd life as a puppy.

Drug Intervention Kansas

Drug-rehabs.org is a searchable directory which includes more than 16,000 drug rehab programs, including long-term, residential drug treatment, out-patient treatment; detox facilities for drug addiction and alcoholism, and drug rehab for specific types of drugs such as heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, methamphetamine and prescription drug abuse.

jack
_______________________________________________________
Drug Intervention Kansas
Drug and Health

Now a days people are so much addicted to drugs that they even dont know that they are haming their lives and the lives of people around them. Now it is time for us to be responsive against drug abuses and
should join hands to save humanity from the fatal outcome of drugs.

Cynthia Kurtz
Iowa Drug Treatment Centers

Nutrition

Personal health depends partially on the social structure of one's life.
These days new generation is moving toward drugs and alcohol
due to frustration and competition for the survival in the society which is not
at all good for the society. We should take some step to prevent our new
generation for these deadly habits. They need some support from there family
and friend. There are many rehabs and drug inventories which help them to get
away with the habit of drugs and alcohols.

We hear so much about the debate regarding which system is better. I want to suggest that neither is better; they're just different. Canada covers everyone at the cost of higher taxes and long waiting times for elective procedures. U.S. has short waiting times and lower taxes going to health care (lower taxes overall, as well), but at the cost of many people having no coverage and no healthcare. It's really an ethical decision, but the bottomline is this: both systems are heading toward bankruptcy. Here's why!

Health care costs keep escalating because of the costs of new drugs and new technology. I assure you that payments to non-surgeon physicians are among the lowest cost in the health care budget (per patient). What is breaking the bank are lab tests and new drugs. I have been involved in training new physicians for the past 30 years. What I observe is how today's physicians don't listen anymore. They don't listen deeply. They don't take the time/have the time to listen. So what do they do instead? Order a mess of lab tests to make sure they don't miss anything. Have you noticed that all lab test panels have at least 20 tests. This is because the normal range is set with 95% confidence intervals. What that means is that any test has a 5% chance of being abnormal due to chance and not because there's anything wrong with you. If you order 20 tests, you have a 100% chance that one will be abnormal due to chance and will have to be repeated. Repeating tests is very profitable for laboratories. And it just goes on and on and on.

I hope I will spark a discussion. In my workshop at Aviana on January 30th I am going to talk about how people can empower each other to improve their health regardless of what's going on in the health care arena. We will discuss the concept of creating small groups or healing circles that are not led by professionals but are focused on people being helpful and healing to each other -- deeply listening to each other and supporting each other to make the lifestyle changes needed. This is happening already in some churches, but could spread much more widely and doesn't have to be linked to any one church or oganziation. People who don't belong to anything can invite friends and family to create a healing circle. You can read more about this in my book, Narrative Medicine.

So let's start a discussion if we can, CBS 21 community. It could be fun.

Lewis Mehl-Madrona, MD, PhD
Fudoo Boards?

I was at my pediatrician's office today, and they had a wonderful interactive nutritional game for kids called Fudoo Boards, however I have not seen it in any local stores. Anyone have an idea where this can be purchased? Many thanks!

Suffering from an addiction.

Suffering from an addiction.
Hi folks, Joanie here. Been quite a good long while since I have posted, but I feel this one should be aired for review by anyone that would want to reply.

I have had Attendants when I lived on the outskirts of Harrisburg, but unfortunately the one lady got ill and could no longer work and no one else was available. She was a definite charm, though advanced in years. I was sorry to hear that she could no longer work. So, I proceeded to go it alone, though I did have my dog who was professionally trained to be a service dog with me.

I had gotten married on 26 August of 2006 after moving to this apt. in Middletown called Middletown Interfaith Apts. late in 2005. It was a far cry from Pennswood, where I had lived before, but I dealt with it as I was still able to do my freelance writing, won several awards for it and taught ceramics. Nonetheless, my illness went onto using oxygen and other things which I would just as well avoid, however I had an Aide through VNA, but if I had a medical appointment or was ill with Migraines as ofen were the case, well I was just dropped by them. I signed up with UCP who recommended a few agencies, however one is involved in legal problems and the other could not find suitable attendants or physical therapists to meet my time schedule, hence they just never called back. My Coordinator at UCP is on medical leave and thus I am dealing with her supervisor, yet my question is what does one have to do to procure an aide/attendant and therapist that will be at my home at the alotted times and will call if they are going to be late or whatever, but just not show up.

I am quite interested in any replies.

Thanks ever so much,

The wound was infected and antibiotics were not working. I was running a 104 fever and I could not walk. When I was at my worst and thought I was going to die, I had a life saving dream ,where I told my self to take some antihistamines and to inhale an asthma inhaler. When I woke from the dream ,I remembered a friend had left their inhaler at my house and I knew I had some allergy pills. I found the inhaler and the pills. I took two pills and 4 blasts off that inhaler then cried my self to sleep.

The next morning I was close to being 80% healed. Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is an antibiotic resistant staph infection and my dream of me telling myself I needed the antihistamine and inhaler ASAP, I believe, saved my life.

My spider bite was from a Violin Spider, they cause a serious flesh eating bacteria which, once infected, became a MRSA. The antihistamines stopped the allergic reaction and the speed of the flesh eating infection and allowed the antibiotics a chance to work. I am not a doctor but I predict antihistamines will become one of major life savers for now and the future just you watch !The inhaler also had a steroid ,i think that was also a plus. When I buy it I eat it! It really does alot of good to find out about it after I'm sick or dying! I just don't understand what they expect you to do about it after its already eaten! It just makes no sense to me why they always find out about it after it kills people, then what? Am I supposed to take it back after I'm dead? I really don't know who's at fault for it either? It seems every week I read about a different recall of meat product after its to late, maybe some of the meat producers should be out of business. _ _ _ _ _

Weight Loss For Newbies

VIA http://www.weightlosstips.me.uk/

There are a lot of different ways that you can lose weight. If you are hard willing you may prefer to exercise while some just diet. The best method however is a mix of both. If you keep eating the way you should on a normal caloric intake day, you are looking at needing to burn approximately 3500 calories or more to lose one pound. This is how it works…

• Calculate your basal metabolic rate. Your BMR is what is needed foor you to carry out normal bodily functions such as breathing, digestion, and etc.

• Calculate your activity level

• Track how many calories you eat in the day. A good way of doing this is using a food diary and tallying it all up after the day is over or using a calorie counter website to help you. Hint: If you eat less calories then you burn you lose weight, more then you burn you gain weight, same as you burn you keep the same weight.

For example…if you are a female and weigh about 140 lbs:

Here is what you could save!

Substitute a Coke at supper for a glass of water (Saves approx. 97 calories)

Eat a whole wheat bagel with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter instead of a Egg McMuffin (Saves approx. 185 calories)

While on your break at work, walk up and down a flight of stairs for 10 minutes instead of having a snack and sitting in your office (Burns approx. 100 calories)

Get up 10 minutes earlier then you normally do and go for a walk instead of sleeping in (Burns approx. 100 calories)

Do yoga for 10 minutes after you get home instead of watching television (Burns approx. 50 calories)

Weight loss is all about combining a healthy nutritional diet and daily exercise so you can only see a change if you make a change. Eat healthier foods, go up the stairs instead of the elevator, it all adds up in the end.

If you are serious about losing weight then you should be willing to change your diet for the better, because it's not just about losing weight but having a healthy lifestyle. Which is a combination of eating right and excercising. It doesn't matter if you go to the gym or not but don't be lazy. Go for a walk after supper to burn some of the calories that your body would normally digest and keep attached or park far away in the mall parking lot just to walk farther. Walk around the mall a few times before buying something or leaving. All these little things help out in the end.

For a lot of people it means going to the gym for a half hour before or after work. Doing a lot of cardio can help you lose weight fairly fast. Bring a mp3 player with you to keep you focused, or even read a book. It isn't that hard for you to take a hour out of your day to keep in shape and healthy, so just do it!

Do you drink energy drinks?

CBS 21 news is working on a story about the latest craze in energy drinks. It's an exploding industry that's generated billions of dollars in sales. We are looking for anyone who drinks these beverages on a regular basis, or someone who has had an adverse reaction to energy drinks. Please contact Reporter Melissa Medalie at melissamedalie@clearchannel.com or at (717) 602-7521.

Heads up smokers!

Have you heard of the new stop-smoking prescription drug Chantix (R)? It is designed to bind with the receptors in your brain where nicotine attaches, thus reducing or eliminating the cravings while tapering off and eventually quitting.

Chantix has significantly better success in the quitting game, where the success rate is low, as you know if you've tried and failed. Of course, it works best when combined with other methods including nicotine gum or patches, support from others and a plan for success.

If this is your Christmas to stop, ask your doctor. (I quit cold-turkey 19 years ago, but few who try this succeed.)
