The Democratic and the Republic Party

The Texas 22 nd Congressional district covers a south-central portion of the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. It includes the cities of Rosenberg and La Marque as well as portions of Missouri City and Pearland, in Fort Bend, Harris, Galveston, and Brazoria counties. In the district, 52 percent of poll respondents identified themselves as Republicans, 32 percent as Democrats and 16 percent as independent. The incumbent representative of the district is the Democrat Nick Lampson. The United States has two major political parties. The Democratic Party is one of the two major political parties in the United States, the other being the Republican Party. Republican Party is the oldest political party in the United States and arguably the oldest party in the world.
The Democratic Party traces its origins to the Democratic-Republican Party, founded by Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and other influential opponents of the Federalists in 1792. Since the division of the Republican Party in the election of 1912, it has consistently positioned itself to the left of the Republican Party in economic as well as social matters. The economically left-leaning activist philosophy of Franklin D. Roosevelt, which has strongly influenced American liberalism, has shaped much of the party’s economic agenda since 1932.
The Republican Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States of America, along with the Democratic Party. It is often referred to as the Grand Old Party or the GOP
The current U.S. President, George W. Bush, is the 18th Republican to hold office. Republicans currently fill a minority of seats in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, hold a minority of state governorships, and control a minority of state legislatures. It is currently the second largest party with 55 million registered members, encompassing roughly one third of the electorate.

Crying [:'(] Re: The Democratic and the Republic Party

This is a bit different, but not only do I see where we can say the Democrats Rule, nor can we say either party does at this point.

I have heard or seen very little discussion from either party about health reform and especially wherein the Disabled folks are involved.

I wonder if this is due to the fact that the people that are running for Office think that people that are Disabled do not have a mind, cannot work and do not make money or more likely is it because the Disabled that are on Disability of Social Security Income, cannot come up with a major amount of financial backing for the support of the perspective candidate involved? I would say this is more like it, but I am totally flabergasted that the people that are Disabled are not counted on to vote in primary's as well as in the major election for President et al.

Even if someone cannot go to the Polls, they can vote via Absentee Ballot and I myself vote this way because of the fact of a disability, but I do not like the fact that every single time I have listened or read anything on the health aspect, I have seen absolutely NOTHING about the disabled and what is being done for them.

I am disabled, my mind is not affected in any way. My disabilities affect with COPD and MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS amongst other problems, however as you can see, I am a writer and have no problem expressing myself, I do hope someone will read this and perhaps think more positively about who should be ruling, that is when the health issues are for the disabled as well.

    With all Due Respect,

    Joanie
