Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

First, I understand that since Harrisburg is in PA, CBS21 must support the NFL teams in PA (Eagles and Steelers).

I must point out that York and Adams counties are actually closer to Baltimore, and there is a large Ravens fan base in these areas. Even Lancaster has a Ravens fan base.  The news team tonight only covered the weather for the Steelers and Eagles games, and not the Ravens.  The Ravens are a local team to South Central PA.  CBS21 should be able to cover all three of the NFL teams (Ravens, Eagles, and even the Steelers).

Pittsburg is about 5 hours away, when Baltimore is only 1 hour away from my home.

The ravens fans in that area are mainly transplants from Baltimore. Most people that are from Adams and York County are Steeler or Eagle fans or fans of other teams.

Also Pittsburgh is 3 hrs from Harrisburg and 1 and 1/2 hrs from Baltimore.

I have an idea for you. Move back to Baltimore if you need to see a team from Baltimore, MD.

This is PA and we really cant stand the ravens. It disgusts me to see them at all.

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

I don't know where you live.  But it takes 3 1/2 hours to get to Pittsburgh, home of the World Champion Pittsburgh STEELERS.  What does the time to travel to the city have to do with anything?  It's a matter of a team deserving of your loyalty.  The Ravens should go back to Ohio. All that has happened to Steeler Fans is that we must go to sports bar to watch some games.  Just walk around this area and see how many STEELER fans you see and then see how many raven fans you find.  Perhaps you should drive to Pittsburgh  so that you know what a great place it is!
Another thing Pennsylvania teams possess the Super Bowl Championship, The World Series Championship and the Stanley Cup!!  Oh yes That means Pittsburgh has TWO championships.  Imagine that.  How many does Baltimore have?  ZERO!!!
I think you might just be trying to start a verbal attack for your view.  Believe me that's what you'll get.

I see you also feel the ravens don't even get to have a capital letter in their name.

How can anyone respect the original Browns playing in another city? And then the NFL plays them over the Steelers.

This guy has a lot of nerve wanting Harrisburg to show the hated ravens on sports tv.

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

I am born and raised in Camp Hill PA and am a huge Ravens fan. It doesn't matter where you are from you choose the team you want. I agree the Steelers and Eagles are PA teams but that doesn't mean there isn't a huge Ravens following. As a Purple Lady who goes to the womens events and training camp to see "my" team I think we deserve a little respect. With Baltimore an 1-1/2 drive, Pittsburgh at 3+ hours and Philly about an hour why not share the love with all three teams?! In my house we have Raven and Bears fans and since we don't get to see many Bears games we compromise.

    Give us all equal time!

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

90% of PA hates the ravens! Get used to it. The other 10% do not care about football. If you think the ravens fan base is large in southern York county (all former Baltimore residents) you should visit Western, MD.All Steeler fans. Just go outside of Frederick, MD and most people love the Steelers or go 45 miles south into Virginia and you meet more Steeler fans then ravens fans. The ravens have one of the smallest fan bases in the league. Most people hate them plain and simple. They stole a team from Cleveland and they have thugs and a double murderer on the team, they wair prom colors. What is there to like about them?

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

Why do people seem to forget that The Colts were stolen from Baltimore, the great history of the Baltimore Colts is now owned in Indianapolis the same is not for Cleveland, we dont own their history nor would we want to own it.... Why do you idiots forget that. Art Modell moved the team to Baltimore because we wanted a team back here no matter what. Until Petyton makes it, every single colt in the hall of fame is a Baltimore Colt and don't forget it. And please Pittsburgh fans we don't care about fan bases , The Baltimore and its Metropolitan area is 5 times the size of Pittsburgh, and guess what we have toothpaste!!!!!!You can hate us all you want but when it comes down to it we are the only competition that you ..The only reason that the Steelers have a large fan base is because of all of the bandwagon jumpers in the 70s that hopped on the train. Besides that i know more people from Pittsburgh that have moved because the horrible economy of that town..so seriously give it up Pittsburgh fans..Its football season enjoy the games

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

WHO CARES?  Pittsburgh is a PA city.  Southern folks can get the Ravens on a Baltimore Station.  I get the Baltimore stations with an antenna in Carlisle.  A good option put both the Steelers and Ravens on  diogital channels.21-1  and 21-2.  FAR MORE STEELERS FANS IN THE CENTRAL PA AREA THAN RAVENS FANS>  Its all about ratings and the Steelers Nation will go elswhere and the viewership will drop.  Tell your adveritisers that you are not covering the Steelers and see what kind of feedback they give you...  PUT THE STEELERS ON IN HARRISBURG< not the Ravens.  Ravens now on over the Steelers on Sept 2 and October 18 so if you are a Steelerrs fan you need to go somewhere to watch the Steelers.  Its time to boyccot WHP-21 again.  They tried this bull a few years ago.  The NFL give them the option..

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

There are far more Steeler and Eagles fans around here than Ravens. I think the Harrisburg stations should play Steelers over the Ravens. Maybe it's time for the NFL and WHP 21 to change how they decide what games to show on TV.  Just today, I turned on WHP on and it said "here in the windy city, pittsburgh steelers take on the chicago bears", got excited and then the station changed it to the raven's game.. See, the station knows what they should be playing!

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

Thats also because places like Garrett County MD are 3 hrs away from Baltimore, its not in the Baltimore market..duhhh ..its all WV and Steelers fans out there...what do you expect from a bunch of mountain hillbillies..just like Wester PA...all red necks...we dont need PA to be fans ,. we could, care less here in Bmore...The Steelers only have such a large following because of the 4 superbowls they won in the 70s ..its all band wagon jumpers...Pittsburgh is not even a large city..so who cares ...

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

I would much rather support the Pennsylvania Rednecks then the Baltimore punks and thugs. I mean the Baltimore Browns. Baltimore thinks PA residents are Rednecks while we think Baltimorons are punks and thugs.

raven fans calling another teams fans bandwagon. What is this world coming to. You and your fans are the biggest bandwagon fans ever. I have never even seen a ravens fan living around hear until around 5 years ago.

We didnt take Clevelands sorry ass history so shut the *** up moron

Re: Ravens are a home town team for South Central PA

    Hello everyone -

We at CBS 21 are in a very difficult position when it comes to the NFL and Steelers vs. Ravens fans.

We know our viewing area has both! Not to mention the Eagles, too.

While we may see more Balitmore fans than Steelers fans in places like York County, remember we also serve Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon, etc.

For every one Ravens complaint (i.e. not showing the game), I'll typically receive 10-15 Steelers complaints on why are we showing the Ravens over the Steelers.

Per NFL rules, we are a Ravens secondary market (since we fall within a 75 mile radius of Baltimore). The NFL stipulates a secondary (and primary like Bal) must show that team's road games.

Home games are a different story, since the NFL figures fans always have the option of attending the game, if they choose. When the Ravens are at home, we will typically choose to air the Steelers games - or in this past weekend's case, an Eagles game (as the AFC's Kansas City Chiefs were on the road).

The local Steelers fan club once sent the NFL a petition with over 22,000 signatures. Obviously, the NFL hasn't budged.

If anyone would like to discuss this further, please feel free to call or email me.
