Your responses made me so mad. I just can't believe the way you think. I really don't work at the Humane Society, but do volunteer with various rescue organizations.
The reason I'm so angry, I rescued a 2 year old cocker spaniel that was neglected my his owners. He had infected eyes and matted fur. I look at him and think about what kind of life he would of had if I hadn't rescued him.
I disagree with you about the "job" of the Humane Society and rescue organizations. Their first responsibility is to the animals, not the owners. Someone has to speak for the animals, and believe me when I say, the employees at the Humane Society and other rescues, do not get paid large sums of money. They do it because of their love for the animals. If you doubt this, try spending some time with rescued animals, it not an easy job to do.
I've participated in transporting dogs from neglectful situations to rescues and/or new homes. Volunteers spend hours and their own money trying to give animals better homes.
Please, for a change, think about Baron. He deserves a better life than to live in a car, and so does Mr. Thomas. I would like to see the person who takes in Mr. Thomas, and gives him a permanent home, to rescue Baron, give him the home he deserves and then Mr. Thomas would have access to Baron. Dogs deserve better than living in the filth of that car.
As for my understanding Mr. Thomas, my sister and nephew were homeless for awhile. I took them in along with their 2 dogs and 2 cats. They moved out for awhile, but I kept the animals, because I believed they deserved a "normal" home and not living in a car or going from home to home, as my sister tried to get her life together. And yes, for awhile she lived in her car. She wanted to move back to Maryland, and until she could find a friend to take her in, she lived in her car. Shortly after that she was diagnosed with breat cancer and died within 2 years. I think I have a pretty good idea of what Mr. Thomas was going through, and I still think Baron shouldn't live in his car with him.
Please don't think I'm trying to give you a line of goods. I'm just trying to let you know where I'm coming from. Everything in this email is the truth. I didn't appreciate your judgement of me, without knowing my story.
If you're wondering how I get my information, I get from the Patriot News, PennLive, and other volunteers involved in rescueing animals. If you haven't read the articles in the Patriot or really read the information on PennLive, you should check it out.
I apologize for my previous email, I just feel like crying when I think of Baron in that car and wish I could get you to understand things from the other side. You say you have dogs, think about them in a car full of trash and not being able to lay down without being in their own poop. If that doesn't tug at your heart, I really don't know what will. After this, I really give up. You aren't going to change your mind and I'm not going to change mine.
