how is it that it is ok, for a child to hunt, yet you are so upset that a child take part in selling tickets for a gun. It isn't like the child is selling the gun. If you had a child in midget football, you might understand, that affording, especially if you have more than 1 child, is difficult. Fund raisers, such as this, help the children to be able to continue playing football or cheering. Perry county is such a huge hunting community, we are not like big cities, that have major problems with idiots handling guns, so why not raffle off tickets for something that a perry county resident could use.

what is the point in going to board meetings. If you truly are for the children, you cant be an smfa board member, they don't care. They are more concerned with what they want and the power they have, than they are for the children. I know, I have been affilitated with them for over 10 years.

Ok first i would like to say as a well educated parent of 3 beautifuls boys that love to play football, i am one of those parents that does and always will sell the raffle tickets. And before people judge the chosen fundraiser they should know the facts. The tickets are not soley for guns, there is a cash price offered or a gun. If a parent does not want to take part in selling the tickets they do not have to, all they have to do is pay the opt out fee.  As far as children and firearms in the same sentence your correct that firearms can be dangerous. However the gun itself is not, it is the person using it, they without the proper knowledge or in some cases the proper mental condition can cause it to be dangerous. With this being said parents need to educate thier child or children on firearms and proper usage, instead of hiding the key elements being  this causes the danger. My boys all hunt and have there own firearms obviously in my or my husbands name. However they belong to them for sporting puposes. The point trying to be made is do not judge parents because of your lack of knowledge in firearm safety.

In response to bstrong.  I would like to know how many times you have offered an idea on fundraising to the board of your organization or how many times you even participated in a fund raiser.  The ones who complain the most are usually the ones who participate the least.  It takes more than a few board members to make a midget football organization successsful and I think that you should spread that message.  Being affiliated with an organization for 10 years does not mean that you were an active board member of active parent.  Maybe you should get involved and not be so bitter!

Why shouldn't they be able to.....lets remember that it is our given right to be able to bear arms.....Also if the lucky winner doesn't feel compelled to take the gun then run with the cash and be happy.....It is for a good cause and generates revenue that is hard to get with the economy being the way it is right now.
