Annual Backpack & Book Drive for the Salvation Army
It’s back to school time!!! And with that, it’s also time for new school clothes, new school supplies, and new backpacks. Unfortunately, many children will not have the luxury of a new backpack or lunchbox to start off the new school year.
Starting August 1st, 2008, the Neill Funeral Homes and Rolling Green Cemetery will accept new backpacks, lunchboxes, and other school supplies for those in need. These supplies will be collected until August 29th, 2008, and will then be turned over to the Salvation Army for distribution.
In addition to the annual backpack drive, a new twist will be added this year… donations of new or gently used books will also be accepted. These can be books for children of all ages, whether they be story books, text books, workbooks, etc. These too, will be donated for the children to encourage reading and learning.
Monetary donations will also be accepted with checks made payable to the Salvation Army. These funds will be used for additional school supplies as needed and can be mailed to any of the Neill or Rolling Green locations or directly to the Salvation Army, attention: Trinette Ream, PO Box 2205, Harrisburg, PA 17105.
