Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, located in downtown Lancaster, welcomes members of the community, friends and family to the College’s annual Senior Show & Celebration on Saturday, April 26, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. For one day, the College transforms 60,000 square feet of space into an art gallery featuring work from its graduating seniors.
The Senior Show & Celebration is a capstone event culminating the students’ education. “This event provides our graduates the forum to display their creative accomplishments,” explains Pennsylvania College of Art & Design’s Dean Pam Richardson. “The Senior Show and Celebration salutes our graduating seniors, and allows our guests to enjoy the amazing artwork we see daily.”
This year’s show will feature the work of the Photography graduates on the first floor, fine arts graduates on the second floor, graphic design graduates on the third floor, and illustration graduates on the fourth floor. A total of 47 seniors are slated to exhibit work.
To make this event a reality, over 7,000 square feet of wall space is utilized, which includes the installation of 53 temporary walls and 200 lighting fixtures throughout. The institution’s makeover occurs between Wednesday, April 23 and Friday, April 25, with the help of seniors, faculty, and staff. Exhibiting seniors will begin hanging their work Thursday afternoon.
In addition to the one-day celebration, the College will feature a selected piece of work from each graduating senior in its Main Gallery from April 21 – May 23. Opened Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Main Gallery is closed on holidays and free to the public. For information on evening/weekend hours, call 717.396.7833.
