CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA YOUTH OPERA TO PERFORM “THE OPERATUNISTS”
Harrisburg, Pa….The Central Pennsylvania Youth Opera will present the delightful children’s opera "The Operatunists" on Saturday, April 19th and Sunday, April 20th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at William Penn Campus Auditorium-2915 N. 3rd Street-Harrisburg.
A fast and funny spoof of life backstage at an opera house, the production features the 3 Sopranos, the 3 Tenors, plus a host of comical opera characters including temperamental Impresarios, wise-guy stagehands and makeup ladies, and a group of smart-aleck students who finally realize that opera is for everyone! With familiar melodies of Mozart, Wagner, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet and Gounod (and guest appearances by the composers themselves!) set to child-friendly lyrics by Michael and Jill Gallina, this is a family-oriented introduction to opera for children of all ages.
The Co-Stage Directors are Debbie Smith Voight and Teri Yerger; Accompanist is Jeanne Bruce, costumes by Keely Thompson, set designed by Jason Nedrow, and makeup is designed by Rick Voight.
Tickets are $5–children 12 and under, $10-adults. Group rates available. To order tickets, please contact the CPYO Ticket Coordinator at 717-566-5557. There will be a dessert reception after the April 19th performance. Website information: www.cpyo.com
