The Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) will hold the first “5K Walk Run Stroll for Nonprofit Excellence” on Sunday, April 6, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at City Island in Harrisburg.
The participation fee is $30 for individuals . Come join us for music, refreshments, and fun while we support Pennsylvania’s charitable organizations and help them remain a healthy, active part of our communities.
One of PANO’s top priorities is to keep nonprofit organizations strong so they can meet the challenges of those who need their services. PANO’s Standards for Excellence Program encourages charitable organizations to examine their operating practices and to follow a clearly defined ethics and accountability code. Certification in the Standards for Excellence Program tells community volunteers and donors that nonprofit organizations operate with integrity and effectiveness.
Many nonprofit organizations need financial assistance in order to participate in the Standards for Excellence Program. PANO is asking for your help so more nonprofit organizations can take pride in knowing that they are meeting high standards to serve their communities with quality services.
Nonprofit organizations are critical to the health of our communities and families, and they play a vital role in the workforce. If you have a child with disabilities, an aging parent in need of services, or a family situation that resulted in counseling or intervention—you know the value that charitable organizations hold for your community. If you visited a museum, attended an arts program, enjoyed a theatre group or listened to nonprofit radio and TV, you know how much nonprofits enhance the quality of our lives.
