It is with great pleasure that I announce a first time ever event here in Lancaster, PA—The Edge of Autism Festival 2008, an event to bring awareness to Autism, a growing issue in our country that affects 1 in 150 children in the US and estimated to affect 1 in 96 children in our own state of PA. Autism is a complex neurobiological condition that is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the US and is more prevalent that cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis and childhood cancers COMBINED! The festival has multiple components and includes a 3 hour event filled with games and activities for the entire community and children of all abilities. The Festival is set for Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 3pm at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA.
This event will go to benefit The Tommy Foundation, Inc. a local non-profit for autism that works with families in the area providing 1:1 support to children with the condition as well as training to over 40 individuals a year to work with children in PA, MD, NJ and NY. We hope that you will consider participating in some way in this event:
1. Organize a team to go out and get sponsors and compete in events on the day of the festival. Any team member that raises $50 can come to the Edge of Autism Concert that evening for free. Entrance to the concert to listen to the bands is $20 for everyone else.
2. Be a sponsor to one of the teams participating in the event.
3. If you are a local business, you can donate a tax deductible gift that can be used as a prize for teams competing in the events on that day.
