When it's so dry like that, my grass stops growing altogether. The only thing I still have when it is dry are the dandelion weeds. Those things still grow when it's so dry. I remember last year that I had to mow those down because it looked so bad, even worse than the dry grass itself. I'm like you though, I will wait until it gets longer. With all the rain of late, I've actually had to keep cutting it. I love to cut my grass. I waited a good while to own my home and have the joy(that may sound weird, but I do enjoy it) of cutting my grass. When I cut my grass, the noise of the mower drowns out the world and I think and pray. It's great. I am not fanatical about cutting my grass though. I have a neighbor who is and I am not.

re: To Cut or Not to Cut

Wait 'til it's REALLY high, then cut the grass so it breaks/clogs your lawn mower, then you'll have an even better reason not to mow. ;-)

Incidentally, the guy who mows our yard doesn't cut it very short during the heatwave... so, tell your wife that it's not just an excuse.
