Not so fast Global Warming fans

So how do you like these 60 degree temps in January?  Pretty cool, I think.  I had the t-tops off driving to work just yesterday!

It's been unusually warm but we haven't set a daily high temp record yet.  So that proves that while it's unusual, the warmth is not unprecedented.  And before you jump to the conclusion of Global Warming, keep in mind we've had 2 blizzards (about to be 3!) in the Midwest.  You can't call it "global" warming if it's colder and snowier in other  places.  It's easy to judge the weather just by what we see and experience everyday.  But weather is so much bigger than that.

So it looks like cold weather will start to return next week.  We still have a lot of Winter to go.  So dust off the shovel and wax up the skis, here comes winter '07!

Tom -- True, one isolated warm spell in winter does not a warm globe make, but in 'An Inconvenient Truth,' Al Gore taught me that when the has warmed and cooled previously (ice ages, warming after ice ages, etc.,) this warming/cooling came on quickly and was ushered by extreme weather - not necessariy extreme in the direction of the general trend, but extreme in terms of intensity and precip amount.  So seeing what is going on in Colorado does not in my mind disprove that we're still warming as a trend.

Wow!  I thought I had misheard the comments from Tom Russell on last night's broadcast.  In my opinion, this ridiculously simplistic argument, in tandem with a clear agenda to discredit the majority of the world's scientific community, displays a complete lack of journalistic integrity as well as making me sincerely doubt his scientific credibility.  Journalists are meant to offer facts, not personal opinions.  Scientists (of which I presume a meteoroligist would consider himself a member), doubly so.  I will find another source for weather information in the future.

To claim warming is is not "global", if every inch of the surface is not warmer than the previous year, is ludicrous.  Doesn't your broadcast claim that the midstate received 2-3 inches of snow this year?.   Well, we've only had about an inch at my house.  And in my living room, there has been zero.  By your own logic, your snowfall claim should be completely discredited.  C'mon!
