Christian's Corner

PRICELESS....

4 tickets behind home plate worth $200 to a Major League Baseball game -- Free!

Parking pass worth $20 -- Free!

Taking a family of 5 to the Baltimore Orioles game for half the normal cost and the O's actually won -- PRICELESS!

But at the risk of sounding ungrateful -- when did Major League Baseball become so expensive?!  I want to thank my husband's employer, Builder's 1st Choice for providing the free tickets and parking pass -- because had it not been for that -- we would have dropped $300.00 in one afternoon at the park! It was 95+ degrees and our seats were great -- but not in the shade.  Do you know it costs $3.75 for a 16-ounce bottle of water?!?!  Talk about price gouging.  And, as I learned from our meteorologists, drinking alcohol is not a good way to cool off in the heat -- but if I'm shelling out 4-bucks -- it better be a brew! Beer

Unless we get free tickets again -- it will probably be our only O's game this season -- instead we're headed to City Island -- Go Senators!

I love going to O's games..Quite a nice stadium!

Did you buy your water inside or outside the park? I'm not sure how different the price is on the outside, but at O's games you can buy food and drink from the outside vendors and take it into the park...

Cool beer icon, Sherry!

If you think Major League Baseball is bad, try taking a family of 4 to an NFL game!  You'll need to take out a second mortgage...

Sherry, I have to agree with you on the price gouging for water. I was at Hersheypark over the weekend and got a 20 ounce bottle for 2.75 (2.34 after my season pass discount, big break right?) Of course, we complain about paying 2.89 a gallon for gas, imagine what a gallon of water is costing us.

How do amusement parks, ball parks, et al,  justify charging that kind of money for water, that was probably in their own custom bottle? Sounds like a good story for the super reporting team (meant with sincerity) at channel 21 to look into.

AaroninNC -- we made the mistake of buying all of our food and drink inside Camden Yards!  I know, I know -- we passed about a dozen outside vendors but with 3 kids (2 under 4 years old) in tow -- we just wanted to get to our seats!

As for Camden Yards -- my favorite ballpark, too!  Don't get me wrong, I complain about the price of water -- but I've been an O's fan since Memorial Stadium days -- remember them?  Now at Oriole Park at Camden Yards where the Inner Harbor surrounds the park and the warehouse still echoes the glory of Cal Ripken, Junior breaking the streak -- no better place to be --- just bring your own water.
