On Thursday, I reported live from HIA on the latest terror plots and how the new TSA carry-on luggage regulations are affecting passengers.
My question is...even though the UK and US foiled the terrorists' plans, have they succeeded in a small way?
Yes, they did not hurt or kill anyone; but, they have definitely disrupted our lives and taken some more of our freedoms away. Thirsty while on your plane ride? You'd better hope that the flight attendants are right there with a drink. No offense to them, but with how the airlines have been cutting back on refreshments on flights (I had to pay $4 for a "snack box" when I flew back in May), dont expect anything more than your normal 1/2 can of soda or mini-bottle of water. So, what are we to do?
Dont get me wrong, I give great credit to the TSA workers and the FBI and Scotland Yard, but we have ended up giving up more of our freedoms.
And, dont think that these new regulations will just go away. Years after the "shoe bombing" incident, we're still taking our shoes off at the security checkpoint. What if we were to become lax with this and now this new liquid threat? Yep, that's all it would take for the terrorists to jump on the opportunity and attack us. These people are very intelligent and look for every loop-hole and opportunity.
But, everyone I talked to at HIA said they feel safe travelling.
Your thoughts?
