Former members of the Hershey Bears will be playing a charity hockey game this Saturday; proceeds to fund for children who have lost a parent/officer in the line of duty.
Here's the info from the Derry Township and Lebanon Police departments:
We are just a few days away from the fourth annual Cops for K.O.P.S. (Keep Our Pipers Silent), Benefit Hockey Game, to be held in the Hershey Giant Center on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at 1:00 P.M.
This year, police officers from around the state, including officers from the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia Police Departments, with special appearances by Hershey Bears and Reading Royals alumni, will face off against the New York City Police Department.
All proceeds from this event will go towards educational funds established for the children left behind by the officers killed in the line of duty the past year within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Tickets, can be had at the door (Hershey Giant Center) for a donation of $10.
Other monetary donations are gladly accepted.
All proceeds benefit Cops for KOPS children. This year, we are seeking to assist children left behind by:
- Officer Chris Jones - Middletown Township Police Department - End of Watch: Thursday, January 29, 2009
- Officer John Pawlowski - Philadelphia Police Department - End of Watch: Friday, February 13, 2009
- Officer Paul J. Sciullo, II. - Pittsburgh Bureau of Police - End of Watch: Saturday, April 4, 2009
- Officer Eric G. Kelly - Pittsburgh Bureau of Police - End of Watch: Saturday, April 4, 2009
- Officer Stephen J. Mayhle - Pittsburgh Bureau of Police - End of Watch: Saturday, April 4, 2009
- Trooper Joshua D. Miller - Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N Swiftwater - End of Watch - June 7, 2009
Last year’s game was a huge success and could not have been possible without our community’s support.
