CBS 21 Announces Partnership with MaxPreps!

CBS 21 is excited to announce a new partnership with MaxPreps, the leader in high school sports coverage. We'll have stats, standings, schedules, etc. for all District 3 schools in one place - on www.cbs21.com!

Here's the official release:

MaxPreps, Inc., WHP-TV CBS 21 News Enter Media Partnership

CAMERON PARK, Calif., Aug. 13 - CBS MaxPreps, Inc., the nation's largest and most comprehensive provider of high school sports content and information on the Internet, and WHP-TV CBS 21 News in Harrisburg, Penn., have entered into a media partnership agreement, it was announced today.

MaxPreps.com, a Cameron Park Calif.-based company that was purchased by CBS in 2007, will provide CBS 21 News and its web site with its entire publishing platform of prep football in the PIAA's District 3. That means that every high school football team in the CBS 21 News viewing area will have a home at www.cbs21.com, powered by MaxPreps.

The high school football pages of CBS 21 News will now include up-to-date schedules, results, rosters, standings, rankings, and statistics for all 100-plus schools in the Mid-Penn Conference, the Lancaster-Lebanon League, the York-Adams League, the Twin Valley League and the Inter-County League.

The web content will be the most comprehensive and timely in the state, and will also be used by CBS 21 News for its high school sports reports and features. The individual football team pages and statistics will be maintained by a combination of team coaches, team support personnel and MaxPreps' regional representatives.

All head football coaches in the region will soon be receiving instructions on how to enter their statistical data on MaxPreps, as well as their own individual user name and password.

Heading MaxPreps' operations on the East Coast is its Eastern U.S. Regional Manager, Vin Iovino, the former athletic director at New Canaan High School in Connecticut and a member of the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The company's Pennsylvania field representatives are Tom Elling and Rich Vetock. MaxPreps' National Association Director is ex-New York Jets quarterback and former Duke University standout Al Woodall.

CBS 21, a CBS affiliate that is owned by Newport Television LLC, features on-air personalities such as morning news anchor Sherry Christian, evening news co-anchors Tanya Foster and Mike Parker, sports director Jason Bristol and chief meteorologist Tom Russell.

Bristol, who has been with CBS 21 News since October 2005, was the recipient of the 2007 Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Sports Anchor in the Mid-Atlantic region, which includes the entire state of Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey, Delaware and Ohio. He also received an Emmy nomination for the region's Most Outstanding Sports Reporter.

Other MaxPreps' media partners of note in the Northeast include the Journal News of White Plains, N.Y., and WCBS-AM News Radio 880 in New York City.
