Wheel.....Of....Fortune....!

I'd like to buy an "E."

It was six Friday morning. My photographer Frank and I were driving to New York City.

Our Mission-- should we choose to accept it-- Interview Pat and Vanna from Wheel of Fortune. And get behind the scenes, without getting kicked out of Radio City Music Hall.

For me-- this was quite the task. (As my photographer held his breathe).

For those of you who know me, you know that I like to push it to the limit. That was my goal at Wheel. The public relations people thought I was crazy --with my requests.

I will tell you I hung out with Pat and Vanna. But I won't tell you anything else. You'll have to wait until November to hear what they said and even better...what I was able to get into on set and behind the scenes!

It'll be worth the wait!

Digging for Dinner!

I didn't even know what a Freegan was until I read an article about it.

Apparently, it's a person who doesn't eat meat and dumpster dives to get breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's even a website devoted to letting fellow Freegans know about which dumpster is the best place where you can go to dig for dinner.

Nap Time At Work?

It's becoming more and more common.

According to some recent business publications, many corporations are jumping on board and giving their employees nap time! That's right. Going as far as putting couches in the break -rooms.

We should all be so lucky!

I don't know about you, put I try to sneak in a little shut eye here and there during the loooonnngg drive to cover a story -- when my photographer is driving of course. I try not to sleep and drive:)

Ever go get your oil changed and find out that you need an extra $1000 worth of work on your car? Or do you...really?

I'm investigating auto mechanics in the area who are accused of scamming people. If you know of anyone who was possibly scammed or you have been a victim...give me your contact information number or call me at the station!

:) I recently sat in on a session with a Laughter Club in Lancaster County. No one tells jokes. Instead, you have certified laughter leaders teach you how to laugh--hard.

Why would you want to learn how to laugh instead of just laughing if something is funny? Because they say, it's a different kind of laugh. A belly laugh, they call it, that most people don't get their daily dose of.

It's suppose to relieve stress, give you a cardio workout and just make you a happier, nicer person.

The skeptical reporter I am...I decided to put it to the test. I ended up doing a special report about the Laughter Club and benefits it brings to your health. You'll have to check it out at 11 p.m. February 15. It may just be the medicine you've been looking for. One thing is certain--you 'll laugh the entire time..:)

Thanksgiving Day...

...In the world of news you rarely get all of the holidays off. And that's ok. It's accepted...A fate you know you'll have to face eventually.

Today, I had to work.

But it wasn't a bad day at all. I called my family first thing this morning to wish them all the best. And then I went to spend time with another family, who I've never met before. They are knowns as the Scott White Family. 200 people who all belong to one of the largest gospel singing groups in the country.

As soon as I met them, I was greeted with hugs. Welcomed as one of their own.

Only--I can't sing. :)

They didn't care. They were awesome! I wish them all the best in their future--singing gospel around the globe. And thank them for being so kind to me and my photographer Nellie.

You Are CHEAP!!!

So, I'm sitting on a bench in downtown Steelton...waiting for my photographer to finish up. When this older lady walks up to me.

She was wearing a scarf around her neck. I can't remember what she was wearing, but it wasn't anything fancy---some slip-on shoes maybe. I do know that she was smoking when she walked up to me and said...

" I love that suit! where did you get it?"

I said, " well, I can't remember, it's kind of loose" --then she cut me off and said...

" I know what you're wearing, IT'S CHEAP!"

OK. A perfect stranger, who just complimented me on my suit, (wearing a scarf and outfit to match) is now calling me a CHEAP-O? She doesn't even know me!

So then, instead of sticking around, she decides to run away. I yelled back to her...

" Actually ma'am , it's a Kay B. Moss from the mall. They're usually pricey."

She yells back, " No it's not. I'm a designer. And that's CHEAP!"

"Does she design scarves in Steelton?" I asked myself?

I just couldn't help but bust out laughing. I guess some people can't feel good about themselves, until they de-edify others or try to make others feel bad.

As the old saying goes, " if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

So I challenge you.

The next time you see someone, who you don't know. Give them a compliment. Afterall, it doesn't cost you anything and makes them feel good.

Poor...poor...Pluto

did you hear?

pluto is no longer considered a planet.

it's now a member of the "dwarf planet" group.

it was one of my favorite planets once. so small but it just kept hangin on...till now.

what do you think about astronomers demoting Pluto? As you Blog me your thoughts...I leave you with this quote:

...do you ever wonder if washed out celebs "come out" or pose naked (pregnant) on covers of magazines just to get back in the spot light?

one of my favorite anchors here at CBS 21 , Kelly glorioso...we also like to call her K-glo....loves talking about celebrities...and recently she let me hear a brand new song that Brittany Spears' husband, K-FED, put together.(don't worry --she doesn't actually own his CD).

after hearing it i figure; i can get a record deal too!!!!

it's finally possible for me, ewa roman, to record the song i wrote while washing my hair in the shower last night:)

Kelly and I try to collaborate on some tracks too! It's a weekend morning thang:)

Door to Door...

And so it goes.

In the news biz...i bet a lot of you out there don't realize how many miles a reporter and photographer walk, before they get the story.

Today's mission...should we accept...and we did.

Find the woman struck by lightning.

My photographer Laura and I had an idea, but no specific address of this lady. We didn't let that stop us. We drove around the city of Lebanon for 30 minutes...BINGO! We finally found the street she lives on --yes she 's still alive thankfully--but there was No street sign so we asked around to make sure the ally we were on , was the right one.

Another 30 minutes of knocking on doors...nothing. Finally we get a tip, the address! SCORE!

What an adventure to get the interview! Sometimes they fall right in your lap. Others-- you're really working for it and praying ! But after the sweat and frustration...the taste of victory is sweet, when you acheive the goal for that work day:)

i hope this gives you an inside look at what we go through on a weekly-- if not daily basis. but don't feel sorry for us...it's all part of the hunt !

Safe in Orbit...

WOW!!!

That's all I thought when I watched Shuttle Discovery go into orbit for the first time in history on July 4th! My twin brother works for a contracting company that works with NASA.

He's a rocket scientist. Yes --there is such a thing. I just thought people made it up when they asked, " what do you think, you're a rocket scientist or something?"

Now I can actually say, No, but my twin bro is! Adam is very very very ...super duper smart, but just by running into him, you'd never guess he's a genius. Sometimes I think he stole ALL of the good genes.

Anyway, the launch was exciting for me because as I watched it on tv, I was able to text Adam....so I felt like I was there, in Houston. He did admit that his team was sweating, until the shuttle was "safe in orbit"

....it was really cool to be able to have an "insider" there, but of course many things he works on are highly classified...don't want him getting de-briefed by the pentagon on my account.

Early Bird Gets the Worm...

...And the least amount of sleep.

Well, another morning show shift is over and I feel ready to nap. Erica Moffitt was off today, so If you watched 21 News This Morning, you probably noticed that. Filling in for people who work the morning show weekdays is fun, but the hours are tough.

I work morning shows on the weekends. Those I'm used to ...but an extra day of those hours can really make you feel like you're up for 2 days in a row. oh well, fire it up I say! ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz....oops...and i'm back. this morning went smooth. wrote a story about tick-borne illnesses like lyme disease, which made me itch ( i think it's all in the mind). So now i check for ticks every day. it's amazing what the stories we cover will make us aware of or make us do that we didn't do before!

I can't believe I am actually blogging. This is awesome.

To tell you the truth, I've never been a blogger. The only other time I've attempted to blog, was when I did an investigative story about myspace.com. If you've never read my bio page and wonder what it is I actually do here at CBS 21...just turn on your TV to CBS 21! You may find me reporting on the news of the day...riding around in the Army's new stryker (that was awesome!!)...seeing what it's like to inspect rides at Hersheypark....or learning what it's like to be a CSI.

That's why I love my job. It takes me places others would like to go...meet people others want to meet. I also produce the weekend morning show here, which is awesome. I work with Paul and Kelly aka The Dream Team and we just have so much fun.

There's news, sports and weather, but you can also catch Kelly and Paul stirring things up with a new recipe or two....or just having a hoot of a time...playing with owls. Every weekend morning is a new adventure...
